Consider This...Classroom technology worth the investment

When I was in grade school, we used to goof off while the teacher faced the other direction to write our lesson on the chalkboard. Well, times have changed.

This morning I had the privilege of getting a first-hand demonstration from my son's teacher Ms. Hall of the new smartboard Lubbock ISD has invested in for every elementary classroom.

A smart board is an interactive teaching tool that serves as the whiteboard, overhead projector, chalkboard, and even computer all in one.

Any teacher with the proper training can create multimedia lesson plans, display a students work, make flip charts, show videos, you name it. And it engages the student like never before.

Consider this:

As parents we all know there are pros and cons with technology. Add the smart board to the list of positives.

You'll recall Lubbock ISD passed a bond election worth almost 200 million dollars a few years ago. That's a lot of money. I don't know where most of it is going, but I do know the smart boards are a great investment of taxpayer dollars.

So bravo to the leadership of the school district.  The smart boards are hands down the smart choice for our children's education.
