(RNN) - Many customers are reporting that web hosting giant GoDaddy is down and is taking out all kinds of websites with it, according to TechCrunch.

A Tweet from Anonymous Own3r said, "#tangodown godaddy.com…Hello everyone who wanna me to put 99% of the global Internet in #tangodown?"

The term tango down was taken from military strike results. When a target was attacked successfully, they would report it as "tango down." Now, hackers use this term to explain websites have been taken offline.

TechCrunch first reported that Anonymous was taking collective responsibility, but a member of the hackitivist group is claiming full responsibility for the act.

A Tweet from the official GoDaddy account said, "Status Alert: Hey, all. We're aware of the trouble people are having with our site. We're working on it."

Some on Twitter are saying every site hosted by GoDaddy is down, but the company has not confirmed that.

The GoDaddy.com domain is still unreachable.

The company is also saying to users who Tweet at them: "We're aware of the issues people are experiencing and we're still working on it. Thanks for your patience."

TechCrunch is also reporting that customers say e-mail from GoDaddy websites is also down.
