Arkansas pig lady ignites internet with inspirational message to team

Posted: Updated:

(RNN) – In the Arkansas Razorbacks' darkest hour, a singing superfan has taken to You Tube to offer her favorite college football team a musical message of inspiration and hope.

Last Saturday, the No. 8 Razorbacks blew a 21-point lead, got a bunch of key players hurt and lost in overtime to 30-point underdog Louisiana Monroe. Next on the schedule, the relentless Alabama Crimson Tide, ranked No. 1 in the nation.

All seemed hopeless. Then lizhoney sprang into action.

Wearing a plastic pig hat, with her nose taped up to resemble a pig's snout, sporting a rosy-red Arkansas sweatshirt and wearing caked-on, matching lipstick, lizhoney belts out a karaoke-style rendition of the classic, folky ballad United We Stand, Divided We Fall.

The video went viral.

Her version of the song originally performed by Brotherhood of Man and covered by Cher and Elton John is surprisingly … not too terrible.  Her retooled lyrics exhort her team to glories that include beating Alabama by a score of 100-3, and between verses she whispers breathy get-well wishes to the fallen players.

Time will tell if the Hogs come off the canvas, regroup and smite the invaders.

Arkansas plays host to No. 1 ranked Alabama at 3:30 p.m. EST on Sept. 15 in a nationally televised game.

Dylan Thompson threw for three touchdowns and No. 24 South Carolina's maligned defense stood strong on a fourth-quarter goal line stand to topple No. 6 Georgia 38-35 on Saturday night.
No. 24 South Carolina's defense showed it's not nearly as bad as it looked two weeks ago - and maybe that No. 6 Georgia isn't the runaway favorite in the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division.

Georgia can establish itself as a top-tier beast if it gets by South Carolina this weekend - and USC would drop to 0-2 in the league with a loss. Tennessee travels to Oklahoma, where Coach Bob Stoops doesn't believe the SEC is all-powerful.
