Body Found In Abandoned House In Hockley County

A man already behind bars in the Lubbock County Jail, is now accused of murder.

On Wednesday, Hockley County authorities discovered the body of a man in an abandoned farmhouse NorthEast of Levelland near Anton and FM 2130. The victim was identified as 21-year-old Julio Arismendez of Lubbock. Family members had reported him missing, earlier this month.

"We were lead here by a couple of friends of the victim who had word that he might possibly be out here. They boys came out here and checked and found him out here, then lead us out here and we've been working the case ever since," says David Kinney, Chief Deputy of the Hockley County Sheriff's Office.

A warrant was later issued for 23-year-old Michael Moreno Gomez. Who had been arrested on Saturday, for unrelated charges. Gomez remains in the Lubbock County Jail at this hour.the continuing investigation is a joint effort between the Hockley County Sheriff's Office, the Lubbock Police, the Texas Rangers, and the Hockley County District Attorney's Office.
