In front of 58,955 fans, the 4th largest crowd ever at Jones AT&T Stadium, the Red Raiders rolled past New Mexico 49-14 to wrap up non-conference play undefeated.
Seth Doege played a little more than 2 quarters going 27-35 for 340 yards and a new career best 6 touchdowns. Doege left early in the third with Tech up 49-14.
Tech scored on their first offensive possession as Doege found Eric Ward for the touchdown, one of 3 times they connected for scores.
The Chain Gang Tech defense continued to gain supporters with another solid Saturday Night effort holding the Lobos to 8 first downs and 127 yards.
For the 3rd straight game, Tech amassed over 500 yards of total offense, tonight it was 702 yards.
The Red Raider running game had a breakout night with 45 carries for 325 yards. It was the first time Tech had rushed for over 300 yards in 14 years. Eric Stephens accounted for 118 while Kenny Williams tallied 105. It was the first time Tech had 2 100 yard rushers since 1998 when Ricky Williams and Rob Peters hit the century mark against Baylor.
Tech is now 3-0 and goes into a bye week before they begin the 9 game run in the Big 12 visiting Iowa State September 29th.
