Man Found Dead In SW Lubbock County

DPS Troopers and Wolfforth Police are investigating a fatal accident in SW Lubbock County.

The accident happened near the intersection of County Roads 7100 and 1300, just North of Wolfforth. Around 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, DPS officials say a rancher found 20-year-old Joe Patrick Ramon dead near a vehicle in a field.

The Department of Public Safety believes Ramon rolled his vehicle Sunday night. Troopers say he apparently was speeding and lost control of his SUV. His vehicle went into a ditch then hit a fence and rolled several times. Investigators believe Ramon might have been thrown out of his SUV because he was not wearing a seatbelt.
