Hurricane Irma has shut down the top teams from the Sunshine State, but college football will be played around much of the country Saturday.

This is not a real interesting week in the SEC, but there are a few somewhat significant league contests.

All times Eastern:

Ole Miss at Tulane - Noon, FSN

The Rebels are wearing a "DW" sticker on their helmets this week to honor Tulane player Devon Walker, who suffered a spinal injury against Tulsa two weeks ago. Ole Miss fans know how a terrible injury to one of your guys can put things in perspective. Mississippi star Chucky Mullins suffered a paralyzing injury in a 1989 game and died a couple of years later after a hard, brave fight.

It's a classy gesture by Ole Miss, and good wishes to Walker, who is recovering in a rehab facility.

This might be a pretty good game, too. Tulane is up-and-coming, and Ole Miss is rebuilding with a lot to prove.

Missouri at South Carolina - 3:30 p.m., CBS

The SEC leads the nation in schools located in a town called Columbia. One goes to visit the other here.

South Carolina is a 10-point favorite, and probably would be a heavier favorite if the Gamecocks had not been so flaky this year. Speaking of which, what's wrong with Marcus Lattimore? He was the best back in the SEC last year and he's been a nonentity so far.

Lattimore better reappear against Missouri, which has a good pass defense, and S.C. quarterback Connor Shaw has been underwhelming throwing the ball. Mizzou's James Franklin didn't play last week against Arizona State because he had a boo boo or something. If he's well and able to go, Mizzou can hang.

LSU at Auburn - 7 p.m., ESPN

The star value of No. 2 LSU is about all that's left to make this game interesting. Auburn has been a disappointment, while LSU has trampled everybody it's seen, which is to say, nobody in particular.

LSU has played Hector to Alabama's Achilles in 2012 - the roles were reversed last year when LSU was the be-all and end-all of college football while Bama was grinding out workmanlike victories.  This LSU team has a flock of good running backs, a competent quarterback (unlike last year) and a defense that doesn't include the Honey Badger. In other words, everything's better than it used to be.

The line is 21. It'll be worse unless Auburn has something up its sleeve we have not seen yet.

Vanderbilt at Georgia - 7:45 p.m., ESPN2

This one is mildly interesting because last year Vanderbilt played Georgia surprisingly close, and then coming off the field, Vandy coach James Franklin got into a dustup with a Georgia assistant coach, and the players pushed and shoved a little bit. It was a big deal only because if Vanderbilt fought after every loss, the Marines would need a base in Nashville.

Georgia has been an uninspired team this year, and you kind of expect the Bulldogs to get it handed to them sooner or later. Probably not now, but soon.

Moderately interesting:

Florida Atlantic at Alabama - 4 p.m.

Florida Atlantic brings the nation's 105th ranked offense to Tuscaloosa. Alabama has not had three straight shutouts since 1966. Seeing if the Tide can pull that off is the only reason to watch this game besides pure sadism.

Rutgers at Arkansas - 7 p.m.

Well, as if things weren't bad enough for Arkansas interim coach John L. Smith,  bankruptcy figures released a few days ago show he's about $25 million in debt. He got caught up in some bad real estate deals, and a couple of banks in Louisville, where he used to coach, say he owes them several dump trucks full of $100 bills.

Coincidentally, the Razorbacks gave up 25 million yards to Alabama last week.

Sorry. That was mean. The 1-2 Razorbacks are reeling, and undefeated Rutgers is in town. Tyler Wilson dogged his team last week in the news conference after the embarrassing loss to Alabama, and he might be back under center. That would definitely help.

Bloodbaths

Kentucky at Florida - 12:21 p.m., SEC Network

The Wildcats usually play well at Florida. It won't matter.

South Alabama at Mississippi St. - 7 p.m.

Mississippi State gave up almost 600 yards to Troy last week and won anyway. South Alabama couldn't gain 600 yards against a stiff breeze.

S.C. State at Texas A&M - 7 p.m.

They have South Carolina in their name, but that's about it.

Akron at Tennessee - 7:30 p.m.

The pridestung Volunteers need a ritual sacrifice to rededicate themselves for the important game with Georgia next week.
