Lubbock Man Seeks To Have Death Sentence Changed To Life

Hearings resume Wednesday here in Lubbock as a man on Texas Death Row seeks to have his sentence commuted to life. A petition claims Joe Lee Guy was an unarmed lookout in a 1993 robbery and murder in Plainview. The two other men convicted in the death of 62-year-old Larry Howell were sentenced to life.

The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles recommended to Governor Rick Perry that he commute Guy's sentence. Perry's aides say the recommendation is still under review.
