UPDATE: Lubbock County is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 11 p.m. The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect until 11 pm for 20 counties: Briscoe, Castro, Childress, Cottle, Crosby, Dickens, Floyd, Garza, Hale, Hall, Hockley, Kent, King, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Motley, Stonewall, Swisher, And Terry.
A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is in effect for the Central and Eastern South Plains including the city of Lubbock until 11:00pm Wednesday evening.
Thunderstorms capable of producing hail, wind gusts to 50 mph, heavy rainfall and frequent lightning are expected in the stronger storms that develop.
Movement of all storms is to the east-northeast at 15 mph.
Storm chances are possible throughout the evening and continuing through midnight. Keep an eye to the skies if heading to the South Plains Fair tonight.
Storms will be possible this evening.
