Emergency crews respond to deadly accident on Slaton Hwy

DPS, EMS and Slaton Firefighters were called to the scene of a deadly crash near the intersection of Highway 84 (Slaton Road) and F.M. 1585 around 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

A KCBD NewsChannel 11 crew on the scene was able to learn that a black Mercury SUV was eastbound on Highway 84 when the vehicle crashed and rolled.

DPS troopers tell us the right rear tire of the car had a blowout. The driver tried to regain control and ended up driving off the roadway where they rolled several times.

Chelsea Trotty was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Chelsea's grandmother, Baby Warren Ned of Slaton, 72 and her mother, 42-year-old Guy Trotty were taken to UMC, where they remain in critical condition.

Investigators are looking at speed as a possible factor.
