LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The #6 ranked Coronado Mustangs are off to a fast start in District 2-5A. The Mustangs are 8-0 in district and have not dropped a set during that time.

"They just don't ever give up. I know every match they will get that from them. I will get some fight from them," said Mustang Head Coach Chad Jones.

The Mustangs started out sluggish to start the season, but they found their groove after they returned home from a tournament in New Braunfels.

"We were down in New Braunfels and playing the top teams in the state and we expected those loses,  but since we returned we have no lost a game sense," said Jones.

The Mustangs have their eyes on the prize which is a state championship, but for now the Mustangs are taking it one game at a time.

"You know most teams say they have the potential to win state, but this year I really think we will win state. We are fighting and working hard and state is there for the taking," said Senior Suzzy Dimba.

The Mustangs will look to push their record to 9-0 in district on Friday when they travel to Midland Lee.
