Police Apprehend Suspect From Roof of Estacado High School

The roof of Estacado High School became the scene of a short standoff tonight between an armed man and Lubbock Police.

Thursday evening at around 8 p.m., Lubbock Police responded to a call at Windcrest Estacado Apartments located at 512 North MLK. That's where police found a man carrying a knife. As officers tried to apprehend the man he began to run and made his way to the roof of Estacado High School. Police finally subdued the man by shooting him with a bean bag from a shotgun.

As of Thursday night the man is under psychiatric evaluation because police say he is considered suicidal.
