The Texas Rangers today arrested
Swisher County Justice of the Peace Priscilla Sanders on a charge of Tampering
with a Government Record, a 3rd Degree Felony.
The Rangers investigated allegations
that Judge Sanders used her position and office to unlawfully issue a
protective order for a relative involved in a custody dispute, allowing the
relative to unlawfully gain custody of a child.
Judge Sanders is accused of issuing the
bogus protective order in September of 2012. Sanders was booked into the
Swisher County Jail is expected to be released on a $10,000 bond. The
charge carries a maximum fine of up to $10,000 and/or up to 10 years in prison.
