Tre Stewart and Kyron King scored two touchdowns apiece to lead Langston (Okla.) to a 40-0 win over Wayland Baptist University on a chilly Saturday afternoon at Greg Sherwood Memorial Bulldog Stadium.

Wayland (1-4) only trailed 13-0 at halftime, but the Lions (3-3), who started the season ranked tied for 22nd in the country, came out roaring in the second half. Langston scored on its first four possessions after halftime as the Pioneer offense, slowed by three interceptions, struggled to get anything going against a defense ranked 10th in the NAIA.

The Pioneers' best chance at breaking into the end zone came on their second possession of the game. Quarterback Anthony Campuzano, back in the lineup for the first time after being injured in the season opener, hooked up with Chris Acosta on two passes totaling 32 yards, helping set up Wayland first and goal at the 10.

After an incomplete pass on first down, two rushes by Kendall Roberson moved it to the 3-yard line where Wayland went for it on fourth down. Roberson was caught behind the line of scrimmage for a 2-yard loss.

The Pioneers were in prime scoring position again late in the first half after Langston failed on a fake punt try near midfield. Wayland moved to the Langston 12-yard line but two incompletions and a sack dropped the Pioneers back to the 25. Reid Layton's 42-yard field goal try was short, but an offsides penalty on the Lions gave him another try from 37 yards. That kick was wide left.

Wayland's offense threatened a couple of times in the second half as well. The first time followed a 22-yard completion from Campuzano to Josh Amador early in the third but ended when the Pioneers couldn't convert on fourth down and one at the Langston 37.

The Pioneers' deepest second-half penetration was to the Langston 27, but that drive ended with an interception.

The Pioneers totaled 13 first downs and 195 yards, 69 fewer than what the Lions had been allowing opponents coming into the game. Langston ended with 25 firsts and 505 yards of offense.

Roberson wound up with 70 yards rushing on 19 carries. Campuzano completed 10-of-23 passes for 100 yards and two interceptions.

Some 750 fans witnessed Wayland's second straight shutout, on the heels of last week's 26-0 loss to Texas College.

Wayland is back on the road next Saturday, taking on Austin College at 1 p.m. in Sherman. Austin College is 1-5 on the season, having lost to Rhodes College on Saturday, 27-13.
