From Texas Tech University:

Texas Tech Rodeo officials announced recently that the 63rd annual Texas Tech Rodeo will be held at the university's Equestrian Center October 18-20, 2012. Tickets can be purchased at GEBOS and Dollar Western Wear for $2 off face value or at the gate for ten dollars and children less than six years of age are free. "Once again, we are pulling out all the stops to ensure the annual Texas Tech Rodeo remains one of the region's premier events," says Coach Chris Guay.

"We look forward to hosting the 15 schools in the region for what will be the fourth five intercollegiate rodeo of the fall semester.  It's a great venue and we really appreciate the crowds that come out to watch and the sponsors who make the event possible.  Not only are our fans and sponsors supportive of Tech rodeo, they understand rodeo and just how hard our cowboys and cowgirls work to compete at such a high level." "Proceeds from our host rodeo are basically our general support budget for the year".

Fresh off its impressive season-long performance in 2011-2012, the Red Raider Rodeo team looks to another national championship by first dominating the Southwest region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. "We're coming off a strong season last year, with a number of great performances by our men and women's teams."  "We improved in most events and categories and look forward to what we think is going to be an even better season of competitions this year."

Tech's rodeo team will compete in five additional rodeos during the spring semester with the goal of bringing regional championship honors back to Lubbock and qualifying for the College National Finals Rodeo. The top two teams and top three individuals in the region automatically advance to nationals to be held June 2013 in Casper, WY.
