Well, if you live in Lubbock, there is no doubt pink is in this month.
That is to the credit of a whole bunch of local and caring volunteers, breast cancer survivors, family members and of course the local Susan G. Komen office.
To kick off breast cancer awareness month, the community came together last Saturday and raised thousands of dollars in the race for the cure event, and they will put that money back into the community to do one thing: save lives.
The month of October does wonders for breast cancer awareness. We will never know how many lives have been saved because of the education that goes on this month.
I'd like to see the other eleven months out of the year full of pink as well. Breast cancer can strike at anytime, and symptoms can show up fast.
I'd invite you to visit the local Komen web site and find out more about ways to detect and prevent this killer disease.
Let's all be pro-active twelve months out of every year.
