LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

An autopsy conducted on 25-year old Lockney murder victim Kechi Marie Diaz determined that she died of blunt force injuries to the head, according to Floyd County Justice of the Peace Kelly Dunbar. Dunbar was at the autopsy on Wednesday.

Lockney resident Edward Delgado Hernandez, 50, was taken to the Hale County Jail on Saturday and charged with the murder.

Floyd County Sheriff chief deputy Cody Speed said they received a 911 call shortly before 2 a.m. October 12 from Hernandez wanting to turn himself in. When Lockney police officers and sheriff's deputies arrived they found Diaz's body in Hernandez's kitchen.

Speed says they arrested Hernandez on the spot and charged him with Diaz's murder. Right now there are few details they can release about the incident, but authorities believe Diaz and Hernandez could possibly have been dating.
