Moving the dial: Tech researchers measure debate response

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

As the eyes of American turn towards Boca Raton for the last Presidential debate of 2012, researchers at Texas Tech are using this opportunity to collect data.

Professors and students will be analyzing voter opinions in real time during Monday night's debate using state of the art technology to measure audience reactions. Ten Democrats and ten Republicans from the community were invited to participate in the study.

Each participant will be given a handheld dial to respond to the candidates Monday night throughout the debate. Researchers will be able to track viewers' responses on a screen grouped by audience characteristics such as party affiliation or gender.

KCBD NewsChannel 11 will be inside throughout the night and bring you an update on the results tonight at 10.
