A Pennsylvania company called Unequal Technologies has come up with a new kind of helmet design that it says helps reduce the possibility of head injury or concussion in sports. The lime green padding in the helmet is called Concussion Reduction Technology or CRT. The company first designed it for military grade safety gear, but is making it available now for use in sporting events. And already some NFL players are endorsing it.
Steelers Linebacker James Harrison said, "I've had no headaches, I haven't had any issues since I've started wearing it...knock on wood. That's not to say it's not going to happen, nothing is 100% certain."
So, it's even getting the nod from some high school athletes, but some doctors are cautious. They are asking for more data and on the field studies.
