From National Weather Service:
A widespread hard freeze will occur late tonight and Saturday morning across the South Plains as clear skies and diminishing winds combine with a drying airmass.
Many locations both on and off the Caprock will see sub-freezing temperatures for up to six hours as low temperatures fall to between 22 and 28 degrees.
Temperatures this cold for an extended period of time will end the growing season. A freeze Warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent. these conditions will kill crops and sensitive vegetation.
Record lows are likely at Lubbock and Childress by Saturday morning.
