Research shows new treatment for MS patients

Posted: Updated:

It has been used to treat a certain type of leukemia.   Now, researchers are finding it may also be an effective treatment in patients with multiple sclerosis. It's called Alemtuzemab. You can read about it in the Lancet. The study says after testing it on MS for two years, researchers believe it works better than the current treatment in preventing relapses and improving disability.  It seems to work in those first diagnosed as well as in others already on medication. Again, the drug is Alemtuzemab.
