Last week I applauded the efforts of Lubbock police to publicize the men arrested for prostitution this year. I also said we would be doing the same. And we did.
And you reacted to the issue. Here's some of your feedback:
One viewer writes: "Innocent until proven guilty. Why does this not apply here? If they have been convicted, then sure splatter their names and faces everywhere. But until then, maybe we should give them the benefit of the doubt… I think if it is such a problem in Lubbock we would have more than 8 arrests in almost 10 months."
Another e-mail said "I think they should post pictures of male an female."
Also, a viewer pointed out the difference between arrested and convicted by saying: "….publicizing people on your TV station based simply on an arrest is not right, in any circumstance."
And finally, one viewer is all for it. He says. "Makes me sick but am glad they are posting names & pictures of the guys. Thank you for giving the public a chance to voice their opinions… I love what you and LPD are doing!! Great job!!!"
I always appreciate the feedback to these editorials. My opinion is just one of many and your voice matters. So whether you agreed with me or not, thank you to those who responded.
