Consider This...Turn on your porch light this weekend

Friends, Veteran's Day is upon us. It is a day where we slow down to honor the men and women whom we owe so much. And if you've had a chance to see Karin McCay's series on the South Plains Honor Flight this week, you know these veterans truly know that the cost of freedom comes with a heavy price and they were willing to pay that price.

Now, America has been involved in two wars since 9/11 with the war in Afghanistan waging on. It has become our longest war. We lose almost 30 soldiers a month over there and many more come home with devastating injuries.

I know many folks in Lubbock that keep their porch lights on everyday to lead our troops through the fog of war. It's a simple gesture and symbol of hope for our troops to come home safely to their families.

Consider this:

Please join those good folks and honor our troops, our veterans, our wounded warriors and those who have lost families members to war. Turn on your porch light on the evening of Saturday, Novermber 10th at sunset, through sunrise on Nov.12th. Let your light show support and solidarity. Our grateful nation has always slept soundly at night even during war times because of the heroic actions of our military.

Turn on the light this weekend starting on Saturday and sleep with comfort knowing that the country and homeland is being protected by our sons and daughters and they will never fail us.
