Texas Tech's basketball season got off to a winning start Friday night, as the Red Raiders beat Prairie View A&M, 89-79, at United Spirit Arena.
Four Red Raiders hit double-figures in scoring, led by Jordan Tolbert's team high, 16 points. Other double-digit scorers were Jamal Williams who scored 15, Daylen Robinson had 14 and Josh Gray added 10. Prairie View A&M's Carl Blair scored a game-high 19.
For the night, Tech displayed an efficient shooting performance, shooting over 50 percent (50.8) from the field and while cashing in on 22 of 28 (78.4 percent) free throw attempts to put the game away.
Tech outrebounded the Panthers 37 to 34 for the game. Each team committed 17 turnovers.
Next up for Texas Tech is a home matchup with Nebraska Omaha at United Spirit Arena on November 14th at 7:00.
