In front of 55,052 on Senior Day, Red Raider Seniors helped Texas Tech escape with a 41-34 double overtime win over Kansas.
Tied at 27 in overtime, Kansas got the ball first and scored to take a 34-27 lead. Tech responded as Senior Eric Stephens scored on a 1 yard touchdown run to tie it at 34.
In the 2nd overtime, the Red Raiders reached into their trick bag as running back Eric Stephens took the direct snap and started to run..stopping and throwing a little 3 yard pass to Senior Darrin Moore for the Touchdown to give Tech a 41-34 lead. The defense then stopped the Jayhawks to secure the win.
Senior Seth Doege finished 45 of 59 for 476 yards passing.
The Red Raiders built a 21-7 lead behind three touchdown passes from Doege. A 6 yarder to Darrin Moore gave Tech a 14 point lead. However, Tech would only muster 2 field goals in the 2nd half.
Kansas who has now lost 19 straight Big 12 conference games hung around and kicked a tying Field Goal with 41 seconds. The Red Raiders offense drove down to the Kansas 23, but Ryan Bustin's 41 yard Field goal as time expired was no good and the game went into overtime.
Tech leads the all-time series with Kansas 13-1 with the Jayhawks lone win coming in Lubbock in overtime in 2001. They couldn't repeat that feat on Saturday.
Now 7-3 overall, the Red Raiders improve their bowl game positioning and they next visit Oklahoma State next Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
