Christmas is 50 days away, but the Salvation Army is already getting into the holiday spirit.
They kicked off their Angel Tree program earlier this week, and on Saturday, they started taking applications.
From Nov. 16 through Dec. 10, shoppers can sponsor a child during the holidays and buy gifts for them.
Last year, about 3,900 angels were adopted in Lubbock.
This year, the Salvation Army says they expect to provide assistance for more than 6,000 angels available for adoption.
