CLEMSON, S.C. (WYFF) — Hundreds of Clemson students pitched tents and pulled on their warmest, rain-proof clothing to camp out in the cold just to get a ticket to the upcoming game against the University of South Carolina rivals next weekend.

The tent city that sprang up around the football stadium this week had grown in size overnight Wednesday.

The Clemson Athletic Department is passing out IPTAY Collegiate Club student tickets for the USC game to be played the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Club members are full-time students who donate to the program while attending school.

Tents went up because the tickets are given out on a first-come, first-serve. The closer to the front of the line, the better the seats.

Clemson passed out between 2,000 and 2,500 tickets Thursday morning. A thousand of them are lower-level student tickets.

The university says these tickets cannot be resold. All of the tickets are coded so the owner must show student ID at the game.

The rest of the student body gets their shot at tickets starting on Monday.

In all, the university will pass out a total of 11,000 student tickets.

Kickoff for the Clemson-Carolina game is set for 7 p.m. ESPN will announce by Monday on which of its networks it will be televised.

Dylan Thompson threw for three touchdowns and No. 24 South Carolina's maligned defense stood strong on a fourth-quarter goal line stand to topple No. 6 Georgia 38-35 on Saturday night.
No. 24 South Carolina's defense showed it's not nearly as bad as it looked two weeks ago - and maybe that No. 6 Georgia isn't the runaway favorite in the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division.

Georgia can establish itself as a top-tier beast if it gets by South Carolina this weekend - and USC would drop to 0-2 in the league with a loss. Tennessee travels to Oklahoma, where Coach Bob Stoops doesn't believe the SEC is all-powerful.
