Texas Tech University could benefit from a new bill going through Congress.
Congressman Randy Neugebauer's proposal calls for the creation of a National Windstorm Impact Reduction Program. The bill, which the U.S. House passed Wednesday, would coordinate wind damage research done by federal agencies.
West Texas would benefit in several ways, most notably through research funding for Texas Tech University's Wind Engineering Research Center.
"Universities like Texas Tech that have been at the forefront doing this kind of research will be a part of it," said Congressman Neugebauer.
The bill now goes to the U.S. Senate for consideration.
