Firefighters respond to 2-alarm blaze on 91st Street

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Just after 5 p.m. Saturday evening, the Lubbock Fire Department was called to a home at 6906 91st Street. The fire was so intense, additional crews had to be called in. A total of 40 firefighters were eventually called in to fight the blaze.

The family was not home when the fire broke out, so no one was injured. The family dog was home, but firefighters were able to rescue it. The home suffered a significant amount of damage.

LFD Division Chief Doyce Ewing said, "I believe Red Cross is here to assist now, probably with some temporary housing should it be needed. Right now we're doing our mop up operations."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
