As we wrap up another successful year of the U Can Share food drive, it's important that we remember the need is year round.
And this year the food bank has a unique challenge.
Since 1984, this food drive has brought the community together to raise much needed food for people and families that would otherwise go without
And historically, the donations that come in this week are given out throughout the next year. Well, the need has become so great that the food that comes in this week is, for the most part, already spoken for.
The shelves at the warehouse aren't full of food from the previous year.
Thank you to all who have donated this year and every year. If you'd like to take your contribution to the next level, here's an idea.
Mark your calendar one day a week for the entire year. On that day, take 20 minutes and drop a small donation off at the food bank.
One single dollar bill will buy five meals.
So if you marked your calendar, and donated three dollar every week, you'd be feeding a child for an entire year.
Think about that. And do what you can to support the food banks efforts to feed the hungry year round.
