The stands at the United Spirit Arena were full Friday with hundreds of Red Raider fans fired up for the formal introduction of their new head coach.
From the moment Kirby Hocutt introduced Coach Kliff Kingsbury until Kingsbury's closing statement, the energy from the crowd was incredible.
The press conference started with a standing ovation from the crowd.
Guns were held up high and proud for the official welcome of the former Red Raider and new head coach.
Kingsbury began his speech saying, "It's good to be home" and when he asked Hocutt if there was any way to get Cincinnati on the schedule for next year, the crowd jumped up and roared in support.
Buddy Forbess has been a Red Raider fan for a long time and he said it was a fantastic day.
"We've been looking for this for years and years. I've been a season ticket holder since 62, so I'm looking forward to it."
Calvin Fossett is a senior at Texas Tech University and is graduating Saturday. He said there was no other place that he would rather be than at the first official public appearance of Coach Kingsbury.
"Everyone loves him. It's not a split division. Everyone's behind him 100 percent. Crowd was all here for him, cheering every second they could. It was just a really cool thing to see," Fossett said.
Sarah Harlan is also a senior at Tech, and she's excited about this new era in Red Raider football.
"I know that people were trying to start chants in the middle of him speaking and I think that that is a testament to how much people are excited that he's here," Harlan said.
The press conference ended with a standing ovation from the crowd, a testament from Texas Tech fans that they believe their future is bright.
