Volunteer to help WBTV First Night Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Start 2013 with WBTV and Center City Partners and volunteer for Charlotte's largest New Year's Eve festival!

WBTV First Night Charlotte 2013 brings together a daylong celebration to close out 2012, with a midnight celebration where the Queen Charlotte crown is raised to ring in the New Year.

Participants will enjoy dancers, circus performers, aerialists, science booths, musicians, storytellers and much more.

Hundreds of volunteers are needed to make First Night a success. Anyone 18 and older can volunteer to help transform Charlotte into a creative playground. Children 12 and older can volunteer if they are accompanied by an adult.

You can volunteer for Wristband Sales, Artist Assistants, Kid's Activities Assistants, and Performance Location Managers.

WRISTBAND SALES

Assist with selling wristbands, collecting money and welcoming attendees. There will be 3 daytime booths and 2 evening booths selling wristbands. Each booth needs 4 volunteers. It's a great way to spend some quality time with a friend!

ARTIST ASSISTANTS

Provide helping hands and staffing to the event's installations and workshops. Provide public information, answer questions about project, collect donations, maintain order when needed and ensure the artist's projects are ready for all the public to enjoy.

KID'S ACTIVITIES ASSISTANTS

Several opportunities here! We'll need help with Crown Town, where the kids and adults decorate their own crowns! We'll provide glitter, jewels and other decorative pieces. Additional activities include ushering for some performances, monitoring booths, crowd control, greeting and handing out event guides!

PERFORMANCE LOCATION MANAGER

Each venue needs volunteers to make sure act changes and performances go smoothly. These assistants are the backbone of our event. They provide moderate crowd control, answer the public's questions, greet, hand out event guides and have the chance to watch some amazing shows. You'll serve as the eyes and ears of First Night, reporting back challenges and opportunities to the command post.

Shifts vary from 2.5-3.5 hours. They are broken down as follows:

Daytime
Shift 1 10:00am-1:00pm
Shift 2 12:30pm-3:30pm
Shift 3 3:00pm-5:30pm

Evening
Shift 4 5:30pm-8:30pm
Shift 5 8:00pm-11:30pm

All volunteer positions include lots of walking and standing, so be sure to wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and dress warm.

Volunteers will receive a branded winter scarf to stay warm in the coming winter months.

WBTV First Night Charlotte is a family-friendly, alcohol-free event. Attendees are encouraged to enjoy local dining and refreshments.
