AMBUCS offers amtryces to disabled adults and veterans

Posted: Updated:

The Lubbock AMBUCS have given away many amtrykes to children with disabilities over the years.  That's a specialized trike that allows kids to pedal with their hands if their feet are not able to. But now, the program has grown...along with the size of the bikes to include adults.

At the AMBUCS year end meeting this week, they gave the first amtryke to an adult, Scott Muncy, who suffers from a rare disease that has made it difficult to walk in the last few years.

Now, the AMBUCS would like to find more disabled veterans or others who could benefit from these hand pedals. |

Brett King said, "The amtryke, it gives people mobility for people who have disabilities. And it allows them to get out and ride bikes with their kids or their family members. And it makes the rehab a lot easier."

If you know of someone who is disabled and would like an amtryke, contact Brett King, President of Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS, at (806) 632-9822.
