Lamesa wins the Battle of the Bands

Starting with 32 area high school bands, after over 7 weeks of voting at kcbd.com, the Lamesa Golden Tornado band won the Battle of the Bands and the $3,000 Grand prize. Lamesa earned 37 percent of the vote top beat 2nd place Idalou by 4,538 votes. Lubbock Christian was 3rd with 23 % and Sudan came in 4th with 12%.

Lamesa has turned things around under band director Doug Morris the last 4 years and the community rallied around these hard working kids to help them win the Battle of the Bands.

Pete Christy will be back out in Lamesa in January to make the official presentation to the band. Next year, it's the School Spirit Showdown.

The Battle of the Bands is brought to you by South Plains College and Sonic!!!
