Stewart Elementary students receive bicycles for perfect attendance

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Students from Stewart Elementary School received an early Christmas gift Friday. Twenty-five students were given brand new bicycles.

Five students from each grade received a bike and a helmet for having perfect attendance for the past six weeks.

The principal held an assembly for the entire school to cheer on the students who had perfect attendance. She said this was the best way to show them that hard work pays off.

Stewart Elementary Principal Debbie Weeler said, "I think it just shows the importance of what school is and there are rewards when you do the right thing and I think showing up at school and working hard in class and everything is what we want to teach them and you are rewarded for that hard work."

The bicycles were donated by Academy Sports Center.
