Last minute shoppers rush to the mall

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The South Plains Mall was filled with last-minute shoppers Saturday, all trying to find the perfect present three days before Christmas.

"It's been crazy, probably the craziest I've seen so far," said Meagan Fuentes. Meagan is a sales associate at Aeropostle where Saturday's checkout line stretched around the entire store. Fuentes said this weekend is tied for the busiest they see all year along with back to school and people were just trying to cash in on the last minute savings.

"Pretty much anything we have in here is on sale, so anything that they can find in their size is pretty much what they're taking," Fuentes said.

Heather Winn owns two stores in the mall and says this is the best holiday season she has ever had.

"We've almost doubled last year. I have a different location in the mall, so it helped a little bit. This is my fifth year in the mall and this has been the best by far," Winn said.

Shopper Aaron Brodie is in town visiting his brother for the holidays. He says that shopping for specific items, not battling the crowds, was the most frustrating thing.

"There are a lot of items on the Christmas list this year that I did not get in the early first part of the Christmas at our house, so I'm taking the Christmas money that I did get coming here trying to find more things that I can get for myself and others that I haven't shopped for yet," Brodie said.
