Dr. Gurdev Gill has provided the South Plains Food Bank with a recent donation providing 25,000 meals across the South Plains in honor of his friend, Alan White, PlainsCapital Corporation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

"A generous donation like this will go a long way in assisting us in providing necessary meals for our neighbors throughout the South Plains who are struggling with food insecurity," said South Plains Food Bank Chief Executive Officer David Weaver. "We are also pleased that Dr. Gill would choose our organization as a way to honor Mr. White, who has been a driving force of progress and economic development in our community over the years."

Dr. Gill has been a long time friend of White's and has served for many years on the Advisory Board of PlainsCapital Bank.

"I want to honor Alan because he has been a tremendous supporter of this community," said Dr. Gill, a renowned Lubbock orthopedic surgeon. "Through the [PlainsCapital] Bank, he has recently supported the Lubbock Independent School district and the [South Plains] Food Bank. He continues to make the Lubbock economy and people a priority. He deserves to be honored for his contributions to Lubbock."

He received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Texas Tech Alumni Association in 2005; was inducted to the Texas Tech Athletic Hall of Legacy in 2003 as well as the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Business Hall of Fame in 2002.
