Road crews across the area are ready to go if the flurries start to fall. Texas Department of Transportation employees have been preparing their trucks all day for chance the snow. Crews are on stand-by and will be able to hit the roads at a moment's notice.
If needed the trucks will spread a chemical called granular magnesium chloride on the roads. It's an anti-icing agent that can help steady vehicles on slippery roads and black ice. Nevertheless, TXDOT still encourages drivers to travel with caution. They will be focusing on Marsha Sharp, Loop 289 and Interstate 27. The City of Lubbock also has crews on standby to work on city streets if emergencies arise.
