Police seeking tips to solve 3 murders from 2012

2012 has come to a close, but for the Lubbock Police Department, three murders remain unsolved.

In the city of Lubbock, 11 homicides have taken place in the past year. Police say three of those eleven remain under investigation.

Travonwick Ward, a 23-year-old father of four was shot just after midnight on July 7th outside of his girlfriend's apartment in the 1900 block of 66th Street.

Police found him lying on his back. EMS rushed Ward to the hospital where he later died.

On November 9th, 22-year-old Fabian Castillo was shot just after 7 p.m. outside the Cricket Court Apartments near Avenue J and 58th Street. He was also taken to the hospital where he later died. Witnesses say this incident took place after a fight broke out. They heard a gunshot and saw a person flee the scene. Police were unable to locate the suspect.

The third unsolved homicide of 2012 took place on November 28th, just after 8:30 p.m. Police found Jodi Winn dead inside her mobile home.

This murder happened only hours after the death of David Martinez, who was stabbed to death by Joshua Bowlz.

Friends of both victims are convinced that these cases are related.

Sergeant Jonathan Stewart of the Lubbock Police Department says, "We would love to hear from the community. It doesn't matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem - the smallest, most insignificant detail can be the thing that puts us on the track of breaking the case."

If you have any information regarding these three unsolved homicides police ask you to call Crime Line at 741-1000.
