It's not just Lubbock, but doctors' offices are inundated with flu patients nationwide.
Dr. Ryan Shelton from Carolina's Healthcare System said, "We're seeing people have really high fever, severe body aches, nasal congestion, cough."
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now reports 41 states have widespread flu activity. As you might guess, the most popular flu treatment, which is tamiflu, has been flying off the shelves. The CDC says the vaccine is a good match to the strain of flu circulating right now, either by preventing it altogether, or at least taking some of the sting out of the illness.
There is still time to get the shot since flu season continues through March with some cases lingering into May.
