Lubbock Library Anniversary

The Lubbock public library system is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The first library card was issued to Mrs. H.F. Godeke who spearheaded the library effort.

On Saturday, the anniversary will be celebrated with a progressive birthday party. Events get underway at 1 p.m. Saturday, starting at Groves Library on 19th St. There will be clowns, crafts and face painting.

Then at 2 p.m., the party moves to Godeke Library on Quaker with Rick the Magician.

At 3 p.m., the Forgotten West Riders will bring their horses to the Patterson Library.

The party wraps up at the Mahon Library downtown, with cake and music, starting at 4 p.m.
