A strong low pressure
system will continue moving towards West Texas Tuesday. Clouds should increase
across the region this morning through Tuesday afternoon.
Showers will spread across the area late Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night. A
wintry mix is possible towards New Mexico. Most of the area should see rain
with freezing rain possible west of Lubbock Wednesday morning near the
Texas/New Mexico state line.
Rainfall totals could approach half an inch to an inch in many areas Wednesday.
Higher totals of up to two inches of rain cannot be ruled out off the Caprock.
Wednesday will be windy and colder with a good chance of rain. Rain may mix
with snow in some areas, especially west of Lubbock. There are indications that
we could see snowfall accumulations in our region Wednesday afternoon and
Wednesday night as the main upper low moves over us.
A light wintry mix remains possible Thursday morning followed by clearing skies
and warmer temperatures Thursday afternoon and Friday.
Another strong cold front moves into the area Saturday and Sunday bringing a
return to well below normal temperatures this weekend. A few flurries or light
snow showers cannot be ruled out Saturday night and Sunday morning.
