CROSBYTON, TX (KCBD) -

The Texas Department of Public Safety has issued a statewide Amber Alert for Leah Marie Aguirre, age 2, out of Crosbyton. She is a Hispanic female with brown hair and brown eyes.

Leah was last seen on Thursday, January 3, at 12:25 p.m.

According to the Crosby County Sheriff's Office, the child's mother -Tina Aguirre, 22 - was under investigation by Children's Protective Services. Leah was placed with a family friend by CPS while the investigation was ongoing.

Authorities say a man named Miguel posed as CPS worker and took the child from the home of the family friend. He is described as having brown hair and brown eyes and was driving a red Ford Focus.

Investigators say there are reports that the mother was trying to sell this child to someone in Mexico for $2,000. They believe Miguel may be involved in this in some way, and authorities are investigating the possibility that the mother could be linked to the child's disappearance.

If you have any information on this child whereabouts, please call 911 or call (806) 368-1926.
