The top ranked, undefeated LCU Lady Chaps basketball team returns home Thursday night to take on sixth-ranked Oklahoma City.
The home game marks the return of LCU lady basketball in over a month inside of the Rip Griffin Center, as the Lady Chaps haven't played at home since a 96-66 victory over Wayland Baptist on December 4th. Since then, LCU has won four straight on the road, beating Williams Baptist, Lyon, Oklahoma Baptist and Saint Gregory's by an average of 21.5 points per game.
"I think that really says a lot about our team," sophomore guard Nicole Hampton said. "It's tough playing on the road but we've done a good job and now we can't wait to play at home."
Waiting for the Lady Chaps tomorrow is the last team to have beaten LCU, perennial powerhouse Oklahoma City (10-2, 2-0). The Stars beat the Lady Chaps in the National Semifinals last season, en route to winning its sixth National Championship in school history.
"The last few years our two teams have had some battles," Lady Chaps head coach, Steve Gomez said. "Last year we were the only team to beat Oklahoma City in the regular season so that was a big win for us, but they got us back in the national tournament. So it should be a high-level basketball game on Thursday."
Tip time for tomorrow's marquee matchup is 6 p.m. inside the Rip Griffin Center.
