LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -
Police have released more information in the shooting story from earlier this evening.
David Castaneda, 24, approached a residence at 4300 60th St. He began damaging a vehicle and the victim, Dustin McLelland, 23, exited a residence and confronted the suspect. Castaneda fired several shots from a handgun, striking the victim and then fled the scene.
McLelland was transported to UMC where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Officers located the suspect's vehicle and found Castaneda dead in the grassy lawn in front of Christ the King Cathedral. Castaneda died of what appears to be a self-inflicted gun shot wound.
