The US Drug Watchdog says, "We are doing everything possible to get the word out about potentially life threatening medical side effects associated with the use of the birth control pills called Yaz, Yasmin, or the generic version Ocella. These potentially lethal side effects include a stroke, heart attack, pulmonary embolism, or blood clotting. Our biggest fear is a woman user of one of these specific types of birth control pills would never make the connection between severe medical issues, and these pills. Adding insult to injury there has been very little publicity about this problem.” As a background, according to the September 17th 2009 edition of the New York Times, "The FDA released a warning letter sent in September to Bayer Pharmaceuticals over Yaz & Yasmin. The FDA letter was very critical of the drug maker for failing to highlight the risk factors associated with these birth control pills."
