Texas Tech names new Defensive Coordinator

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Kliff Kingsbury finally got his guy after weeks of discussions with Texas A&M linebacker coach Matt Wallerstedt.

Wallerstedt will join the Texas Tech staff as the Red Raiders fifth defensive coordinator in five years.

Wallerstedt was a defensive coordinator at the University of Wyoming between 2000 and 2002 before taking over the defensive coordinator gig at North Alabama. He was then named defensive coordinator at Air Force.

Wallerstedt spent 2012 with the Texas A&M Aggies. The Aggies defense was ranked 57th in the country allowing 390 yards per game.
