From Lubbock Christian University:
LUBBOCK, Texas (January 15, 2013) – Lubbock Christian University Athletic Director Paul Hise has confirmed that men's soccer head coach Kyle Beard has resigned to accept the position as head coach of the men's soccer program at Faulkner University.
Beard, an LCU graduate, was the first men's soccer head coach in program history and began his tenure during the inaugural 2010 season. In three seasons, Beard compiled a coaching record of 31-16-7 overall and 13-11-4 in Sooner Athletic Conference play. The Chaps, who have claimed trips to the SAC Tournament all three seasons, finished second in the regular season in 2011, leading to a runner-up finish in the SAC Tournament. Unfortunately they could not repeat their success this past season and finished seventh in the SAC.
Faulkner is an NAIA program based in Montgomery, Ala. Beard will have the challenge of turning around a program that has claimed just 26 wins over the past nine seasons (26-114-15). Luke Close will serve as the interim head coach for the Chaparrals as a search for a new head coach is conducted. The new coach will have the luxury of transitioning a program to the NCAA Div.II level and taking the team into Heartland Conference play next season.
