LUBBOCK, Texas (Jan 23, 2013) – KCBD-NewsChannel 11, the NBC affiliate in Lubbock, Texas, will bring the first local weekend morning newscast to the South Plains beginning January 26th. Daybreak Saturday and Daybreak Sunday will be broadcast each morning starting at 8 A.M.
KCBD's weekday morning newscast, Daybreak, covers big local stories and breaking news as well as national headlines. Daybreak Saturday and Daybreak Sunday will offer the same outstanding coverage while helping viewers make the most of their weekend by promoting local events and staying on top of the weather with the exclusive First Alert Hour-By-Hour forecast. It's everything viewers need to know to prepare for the day on the soccer field, working in the yard and even making plans for date night.
"Daybreak Saturday and Daybreak Sunday highlights our continued commitment to the South Plains to deliver more local news, more often," said Dan Jackson, KCBD VP/General Manager. The addition of Daybreak Saturday and Daybreak Sunday doubles the amount of local news KCBD provides on Saturdays and Sundays.
"This won't be a ‘Week in Review' type newscast. Our overall goal is to provide the latest local news and weather including a specific look ahead at the next 24 to 48 hours. We want to give viewers everything they need to plan and enjoy their weekend. " said Benji Snead, KCBD News Director.
KCBD's Daybreak Saturday and Daybreak Sundays will be anchored by Annie Taylor and Meteorologist Cary Allen. Annie comes to KCBD from WBKB-TV in Northeastern Michigan where she produced and anchored the evening news. Cary, who attended Texas Tech University, joined KCBD in 1996 and returned in 2008.
