KERMIT - A Kermit man shot by police on Thursday night is still in the intensive care unit in Lubbock after being shot by a police officer.

The shooting happened near the corner of Robinson and Halley in Kermit.

Witnesses say an officer pulled over Chad Weaver and had him get out of his car.

The two got into a struggle and that's when witnesses say the officer opened fire, hitting weaver in the arm.

Weaver was airlifted first to Medical Center Hospital then to a hospital in Lubbock.

NewsWest 9 has attempted to contact Kermit Police several times on Friday but we're told no one is available to answer our questions at this time.
